Recently aired on the BBC, the period drama ‘The Other Bennet Sister’ was produced by Bad Wolf, distributed by the BBC and Britbox, with Sophie Cowdrey as the lead graphic designer. This is a ten-part drama that focuses on one of Jane Austen’s most unassuming characters: Mary Bennet, the seemingly unremarkable and overlooked middle sister in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Design details included 1800s essentials such as dance cards, pamphlets, books, signage, canvas prints, letters, and sheet music. Sophie has kindly shared their work with us, including these book props using our dry transfers.
Pale Gold Transfers for Book Props
Sophie explains:
“I have used rubdowns from BEL Signs before on previous productions, including Doctor Who and Jurassic World Rebirth, so you came highly recommended by my peers.
Coming into this project, I needed gold rubdowns for book covers and spines – the rubdowns from BEL Signs worked a treat, very quick to deliver and easy to use.
Some of the prop books that were sourced by our set decoration department needed a graphics pass to add finishing touches; lots of title blocks and inner pages, using matt pale gold metallic, and foil pale gold dry transfers.
BEL Signs are a must for the film and TV industry! They understand the quick deadlines that we work to, and always provide the highest quality work.”
