Our dry transfers are project specific, meaning each sheet has exactly what is required, usually with additional designs for spares. See our gallery, below, for some examples.
When we talk about our dry transfer service we often reference Letraset® as a product that closely resembles our dry transfers. Letraset® as a trading company no longer exists, but their transfer sheets of lettering, lines, dingbats and patterns can still be found on vintage and auction websites.
Letraset® is a form of dry transfer, a type of rub-on, rub-down transfer (read our blog on the way they differ). These designs are applied to a smooth surface by rubbing them, ideally using a burnisher (a tool with a smooth edge). This action ensures the adhesive on the back of the design adheres to the surface. Peel away the backing paper and the transfer design will be stuck in position. See our FAQs for more dry transfer queries.
Dry Transfers are a great Letraset® alternative
Our dry transfers can be manufactured in black, white, clear or a bespoke colour. Colours can also be mixed to closely match a RAL colour or Pantone swatch including fluorescent, metallic and pastel colours. They can also be manufactured in a variety of finishes, such as matt, gloss or foil finish. Orders can also be one, two or three colours. For example we have produced the Union Jack flag for a UK manufacturing business.
Props
This massive range of colours and finishes manufactured in-house by our team of specialists means our foil colours can imitate a foil-block finish, like those for decorative book covers and vintage signage, ideal for film-makers and prop departments.
Model engineering
This makes dry transfers ideal for model makers who wish to replicate insignia, flags, motifs, numbers and livery in scale. Our dry transfers were used for by a model engineer recreating a steam locomotive LNER B1. Our dry transfers allowed him to recreate the numbers for the front and side of the model to match the original in specific rail colours.
Prototype projects
With prototypes, dry transfers can be manufactured to your specifications. Each piece is created project specific, allowing you to have precise decals at the right scale and colours without having to produce a huge number. Sharp specialised transfers will give your prototype a professional and finished appearance. See our blog about dry transfers for a prototype multi-link terminal.
Display labels
Labelling for exhibitions, displays, galleries and museums can be created with dry transfers, allowing a clear appearance and professional finish. Whether on glass, smooth wall areas, acrylic, or card, dry transfers can be rubbed onto such surfaces easily.
